About Narra

I make fun and functional nature-inspired stoneware pottery. My goal is to make pottery that can be enjoyed visually, feels good to the touch, and serves a useful purpose. Some know me as the “leaf potter” because I incorporate the textures of leaves (and especially rhubarb, cucumber, and hosta grown in my garden) in small plates and larger platters. I’m intrigued by other textures, too, and use those of antique needlework and more contemporary items in some of my other work.

I am an unabashed lifelong learner. While my professional work was in the fields of education and public health I tried, over the years and with various degrees of success, to carve out some time in the evenings or on weekends to pursue my passion for the art and craft of pottery. I had the pleasure of taking some pottery classes at Lakeside Pottery and Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR), as well as in-person and online workshops. I’m particularly grateful for the community of potters and other artists in the Madison area who have been so generous in sharing their knowledge and experience. I currently work from my home studio.  I’m an active member of the Madison Area Potters Guild and appreciate the opportunity to further develop the community of local potters and ceramic artists who like to play in the clay, make pots and ceramic art, and learn from each other.

I hope you enjoy my pottery. I certainly enjoy making it.
